Tirtha rites, Shraddh and Puja at Pushkar
Pushkar is a tirtha, and the rites asked for here are mostly the ones the tradition places at a tirtha rather than at home — tarpan and shraddh at the sarovar, Tripindi Shraddh for pitra dosh, and sankalp taken before the Brahma temple.
Because these are tirtha rites the date matters more here than in most places. Amavasya, the Pitru Paksha fortnight and specific tithis in Bhadrapad and Ashwin are preferred for shraddh, and Kartik Purnima brings a mela that makes any other arrangement difficult for a fortnight either side of it.
For a shraddh, bring the gotra and the names of the departed for as many generations as the family recalls. Speak about the situation before booking travel, so that the tithi and the journey are settled together rather than one against the other.
